About In Charley’s Memory
Charley was an amazing son, brother and friend. He was popular and liked by all, however for years Charley had struggled with this invisible illness. Anxiety, depression and OCD were some of his daily battles and on September 10th 2014 at the age of 18 it all became too much and Charley took his own life.
Charley’s mum Jojo, set up In Charley’s Memory to raise awareness of mental health in young people. The charity has grown rapidly and today we support young people from 11-25 with free counselling. We work closely with local GP practices offering counselling to their young patients within the surgeries. Moving forward In Charley’s Memory will be delivering talks and training around mental health and young people in schools and we also have a successful ambassador programme.
“All of us here at In Charley’s Memory are so proud to be associated with Unfiltered Society. They have similar goals, which makes the fight to reduce stigma and raise awareness that little bit easier. Mental Heath does not discriminate young and older people from all different walks of life, together we can make a difference.”
